in Cutting tax
I lost my job to poor health mid December. I am now unemployed. I just cashed in one of my pensions, around £1500
how do I go about claiming tax back paid on this lump sum ?
what other financial stuff should I be doing to inform tax office ?
thanks in advance

Did you pay about £90 in tax on it?
Are you signing on for either JSA or ESA (not Universal Credit)?0 -
just looked at the statement, I paid £247 in tax, gross payment was around £1600 ( I forgot is was bit higher than 1500)
I am not claiming JSA or ESA at minute0 -
You may also be due a refund on the tax paid on your job (if you paid tax).
You can either wait for HMRC to refund any overpaid tax after the end of the tax year or claim using form P50.0 -
I had a similar experience a few years ago. I wish you all the best. As stated look at both claiming back already paid as you're due and requesting benefits if required. Thankfully I had savings and insurance.0
