O/S Daily Saturday 15 February 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light but wet underfoot and very blustery.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here, DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken portions, jacket potato/chips and beans for the menfolk, I had fish cakes and salad. Tonight will be pie and chips for them, unless they chose something else. Tomorrow will be a roast of either lamb or pork - depends what we're doing.
I was pleased with how much I achieved again yesterday - really making headway - still things I want to get done though,
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc.I'm just about to properly rouse myself and go off to the shops. There will be a little side-trip to the tip. With a bit of luck I'll be back indoors before the heavy rain arrives. My night was fairly disturbed as one of the neighbours is being difficult over the remedial works despite being party to the agreement. Think he's being selfish, though he probably doesn't fully understand his responsibilities under Scots Law. The Factor will, no doubt, sort it out next week. Now I wish our poorlies and sad a better day. Happy Saturday to everyone.

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.I went for the blood test yesterday only to be told by the nurse that I was there too early, I couldn't have it before March 9th - I told her that the doctor had told me to make an appt - but she just reiterated that I couldn't have it before 9th march, because of NHS guidelines. Piity the Dr hadn't told me, but I just had to accept it. Good thing I'm retired and hadn't taken time off work for this.We then went to i*ea, and got a few not too expensive ideas for toy storage, didn't buy anything, but we will. That was our day really. A friend came round last night and we put the world to rights, she was complaining about our Drs as well, she and her husband use the same practice as we do.Not much happening today I don't think.Snoozer sorry to hear 2 of your male family members are having problems in their nether regions, hope they are both ok.Nelski, thinking of you, you haven't lost your sense of humour I see, I laughed at your description of the physios. i understand that it's hard to stay positive in the face of what's happened though.Anyway, take care folks - hope none of us get blown/washed away by the storm11

Morning
My body still wont realise sleep ins are possible so up at 6 as usual
At the same time my brain kids me it will all be back to normal after a good sleep then you realise its not when the day starts
Anyway back to reality....yesterday the physioterrorists (thanks for that jaybee) came and we did ballet lessons on the kitchen surfaces ....I can very nearly plie and my hip abductor is getting higher!!! Maybe Im seeing a human side too as she showed me a picture of her dog
Some of you have asked about mum and without wanting to tempt fate she has been amazing. Disregarding the first day when I told her I was in hospital and she said "what about my shopping this week then?" She has now settled into realising I can still sort her food just can't visit right now. Now we speak daily discuss coronation st as norm and her shopping arrives exactly when she wants it ....bananas included
Today I have some left over sausage casserole and some crusty bread hopefully arriving in this mornings shop. Call with my age uk lady too then just bits. Want to get the dishwasher sorted too as me and washing up don't go well together. Weather calm right now although forecast bad later. Hope you all stay safe and your homes survive another onslaught.
Rubes Try to have a good chill this weekend and nanny....my buckets empty11 -
Morning All
Cold, wet and windy this morning again, seems like we have a storm every weekend at the moment. Hope you all manage to stay warm and dry.
Sorry to hear you're feeling so poorly dp1, hope you start to feel better soon.
Keep going Nelski.
Pleased to hear of the good news snoozer.
I got the housework done last night, actually managed to get all the windows open for a good blow through, it was mighty cold but felt fresher. Bedding in the WM, it all smelled of Vicks!
Off to buy essentials in a while, I think DD and baby Sophie are visiting this afternoon which will be lovely, haven't really seen her for a week with me being away and having a cold, hope she hasn't forgotten me!
Happy Saturday, take care. XX11 -
TA, I seem to remember your leg pain was to do with the arteries? BBC Breakfast were saying this morning that drinking cocoa will help that. Sounds like something worth trying - it won't be a hardship like a lot of remedies!
I want to do a bit of batch cooking today, leek and potato soup and a sweet potato butternut squash and lentil stew plus a carrot cake. Last year we were eating meatless meals several times a week but we drifted away from that so I'm making an effort to get back to it. Apart from that not a lot will be happening.

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It's spookily quiet outside and hard to believe a savage storm is on the way. My heart goes out to those already flooded by last week's storm.
After a hectic day of cramming all sorts in yesterday I have promised myself an easier day today. We'll see if it happens! The vet was pleased at the way Sparkle's chin looks to be healing after the biopsies. Back next Friday for the results! I told him she appears to be having trouble eating so he checked her mouth, teeth etc and can't explain why. He gave her an anti-inflammatory jab just in case. There is definitely something bothering her when she tries to eat. Poor little puss cat.
Eldest DGD left here at 6.00 a.m. on her way by coach to Perthshire for a team building long weekend. I hope she gets there safely before the storm hits.
Once again I am on a mission to lose the excess half a stone I put on due to comfort eating last winter. It was easy enough to put it on but not so easy getting it back off! The Michael Moseley book is back out again! Just had avocado and poached egg for brekkie so that's a start!
Have a good day everybody if you can, thinking of our poorlies and sad. Good to hear the Junior Snoozers are ok and on the mend. ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them and take care one and all and stay safe xx
SNOOZER cross posting. Yes you remembered right about my leg pain. I have BBC Breakfast on but must have missed that bit. I'll see if I can get it on catch-up. Thanks! xx

TA come and join us on The Old style Weight loss forum we are a very friendly bunch and it doesn't matter when you join xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.8 -
Morning all
All calm here atm but 'Dennis' is due about 12 ish, we will get the dogs out before then for a good walk. I have a towel load in the wm but they will go on the airer or in the td later.
Well my brother cane and rubbed down the bathroom yesterday he did a great job, he also offered to come and paint it today for free which was so lovely ! so he will be here in a while to do it, I am so pleased as it desperately needed doing.
Pasta for dinner with prawns chicken and chorizio I will use the pasta we bought back from Greece which is so light and fluffly and is hand made by the women's association and well worth travelling all that way for !!
Nels I hope you are ok my friend, glad to hear that you are getting on with your exercises etc and that your mum is being supportive (as much as she can) are you managing with money ? you cant have much coming in at all now, can you get any benefits while you recover ? much love xx
Right better get on have good days all xx

Good morning, we have heavy rain and some wind, not as much wind as last weekend - so far.
Nelski, RR and dp1, thinking of you. Snoozer, good news that it was cysts.
OH gone to M*rrisons to do hunter-gathering before it gets really stormy and I'm just keeping an eye on the trees, I think some were weakened by last week's storm so there will be more branches to collect Harry the Squirrel is not able to get in my daffodil pots as I put sticks in to make it more difficult until all the bulbs are up, he was digging them out. After that he started doing star jumps in the pansies and today he's been doing a good job of squashing the parsley.
The wind is strengthening now, even in the time it has taken to write this so it looks like an *exciting* weekend.
Hope everyone has a good day and that your autocorrect behaves better than mine is trying to do.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back10
