State Pension letter?

Had my letter today and nice surprise, since I knew it is paid in arrears and was not expecting anything until April. Have a query, it is due from March 6 and letter tells me it will pay me £152.37 for 6-12 March on 12 March and then £609.48 on 9 April. On the online info that I had before the letter it says £152.37 is the weekly amount, so that is the same but it says £662.54 is the monthly amount. 52 x £152.37 would give me what the online yearly amount is but is the difference £53.06 because there are more than 12 payments a year, if so why do they bother telling you the monthly amount? Also will the payments move around the months rather than being on the 9th each time? Guess I really like regular dates for payment, much easier to plan.

No idea why they mention monthly given State Pension is never paid monthly.
As it is paid every 4 weeks won't your next payment date be the same day of the week four weeks after 9 April. Bank holidays may change things I guess.0 -

Has it changed recently? My OH got his state pension in 2018 and it is paid every 2 weeks. Can you choose whether it is 2 or 4 weekly?Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0

I don’t know when the next payment date will be, I’d just prefer if it was the same date every month, my two current work pensions are paid on the same day each month, either the 1st or 24th for the other. Like I said the online gives the weekly amount , the monthly amount, their wording not four weekly, and the year amount. I just knew from friends already in payment that you get 13 payments a year not 12, perhaps they need to change their online wording. Is it a throwback to when people were paid weekly for their SP?Paddle No 21:wave:0

How can it possibly be the same date every month when it isn't paid monthly?
I agree it is confusing referring to monthly but that seems to be gov.uk style, assume everyone is stupid and this actually makes things more confusing than they need to be1 -

- From House of Commons Library Briefing Paper
Number CBP-00260, 31 March 2017
The State Pension is a weekly benefit, paid in multiples of a week.
It is paid four weekly in arrears, weekly in advance or, where the
beneficiary agrees at intervals of up to 13 weeks in arrears.
Regardless of the frequency with which it is paid, it remains a weekly benefit.
The timing of State Pension payments for people reaching State Pension
age on or after 6 April 2016 was provided for in the Pensions Act 2014
(Consequential, Supplementary and Incidental Amendments) Order
2015 (SI 2015/1985) (article 9). This inserted new regulations 22CA and
22DA into the existing claims and payments regulations:
• Regulation 22CA specifies that the new State Pension is paid in
arrears, at intervals of one week, two weeks, four weeks, or 13
weeks, if the beneficiary agrees

You need to request weekly or fortnightly..they will pay 4 weekly otherwise.
Personally I quite like it going in weekly1 -
