Well I haven't posted for a while, and i should probably update my signature at some point too. But I'm getting on top of things, I've got a clear finish date for my debts, as things stand right now, and a payrise on the way that I haven't factored into my payment plan yet (i won't until i actually see it in my payslip as i don't know when it will come!)
Anyway i'm seeing light at the end of the tunnel, but i've committed my finances quite hard to getting debt free. No surprise then that I've been struggling for weeks worrying about christmas presents.
So the other day my mum comes up to me and says 'Have you done any christmas shopping yet?' I'd done little bits, but nothing major really (i have a big family, even with little gifts all round it still adds up)
So she says 'well i've got some of these for you and some for your sister too' and hands me £150 of high street vouchers to do christmas shopping with!
i cried. i'm not ashamed. such a lovely thing to do... and she said 'if i'd given you money you'd have felt all guilty about spending it on shopping. and then you'd have felt guilty if you'd used it to pay your debts. so i got vouchers. make sure you get yourself something with those too!'
So i just want to say things are looking ok, and my mum's brilliant. :j

Aw that's lovely and will make Christmas a bit easier for you. Hope you buy your mum a nice thoughtful present too but maybe not with the vouchers. What a lovely mum xxJanuary budget

What a sweetie your mum is! Have fun getting those pressies with the vouchers and choose a treat for yourself that your mum would like to see you enjoying.
Remember to 'pay it forward' by doing random acts of kindness for other people so the benefits get spread around. My Nan gives us a completed £50 tesco savings stamp card every year to pay for our Xmas food shopping - she pays for it gradually over the year, even though she's only on a pension! She just wants to make sure we treat ourselves at Xmas - she's a star!!0

Mums really are great - mine has just paid for the new tyres on my car to keep me legal. Had an argument with her last night though as I've won a brilliant holiday and really looking forward to taking her away and us both having a bit of luxury for a while. I'm so excited, first holiday in 10 yrs for either of us, and what do I get, "Would you not rather have the money? £30 is a bit much to pay for a return to London............." so she's moaning about having to pay a regional supplement of £30 to get on a holiday that is worth £4000 EACH?!
Talk about sounding ungrateful. I bawled my eyes out all last night. I thought I was doing something wonderful for both of us by taking her on this holiday of a lifetime, instead, I'm dreading it being nothing but her moaning about everything and ruining it.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0
