Convert 8mm cine to DVD

My dad has recently found some super 8 (8mm cine) film that he wants to get converted to DVD. We got quoted £35 for 200ft.

Is this good? Has anyone has this done? if so what price did you pay.

I would suggest a search (on "cine" perhaps) and/or ask at DVdoctor forums

Haven't frequented their forums myself for a while but you will probably find people there who offer the service and can give you info on costs.
Here's one link pulled from an old post there (posters name was Charles, and it's his site I think). Click on Cine/Slides link.

It shows cost of £19 for 200ft reel but that only gets you a VHS tape I think so I guess for someone to actually produce a DVD your price of £35 might not be too bad.

I think you need to get some idea of the quality you will get for the price and ask how the conversion is being done.
  • Thanks i'll give them a look and see how i get on. I will post any of my findings on this forum.

    :)
