I've had my batteries for just over a year & I've grid charged for 3.5 months. The batteries are currently showing 237 cycles which means they'll last 19 years before they drop below 70% of the original capacity.Exiled_Tyke said:
I would never charge batteries from the grid. When you look into the cost of even the cheapest off-peak electricity from the grid and then add in the cost per unit of the battery over it's useful life, I've always found that the calculation comes out as more expensive than simply buying standard rate electricity from the grid.Pile_o_stone said:I'd always go AC Coupled so that you can charge the batteries in winter from the mains.4kWp (black/black) - Sofar Inverter - SSE(141°) - 30° pitch - North LincsInstalled June 2013 - PVGIS = 3400Sofar ME3000SP Inverter & 5 x Pylontech US2000B Plus & 3 x US2000C Batteries - 19.2kWh2 -
One of the reasons for taking this step is our decision to stay in our present house for the long term.1961Nick said:If there's any chance of you moving house, seriously consider the ac option as it's portable & you can take it with you.
We put the house up for sale last year and by the time we had the house ready (all of those jobs you put off for years) we realised that we bloody love it here (home from work at 5.30pm, wetsuit on and paddleboards on the water by 5.40pm is a huge bonus of living on the coast).1
