Should I stop using credit cards before mortgage application?

I have 4 credit cards. 3 I barely use and 1 that I use to make all purchases throughout the month. The full balance is paid in full every month by direct debit and ranges from 600-800£.

Is it better for me to stop doing this and use my bank account for daily living costs?

Do what suits you and your finances and do not over think this. It will make no difference.

Will it not affect affordability and the amount I can borrow?

I don't think you need to worry. I use my credit card for all daily spending, and clear the balance at the end of the month. I'm in the process of buying a new property and my broker barely registered it as I told them it was paid off in full every month. Best of luck with your application!

    No. It doesn't matter.

OP, my mortgage adviser said as most people have - as long as the balance is paid in full every month, it won't matter.

I am super paranoid so I stopped using mine anyway! Just so that my credit available vs credit in use ratio is low... But he said he was more needing to declare things like bank loads, car finance payments, store card loans, etc. None of which I have but it doesn't stop me feeling crazy scared about the outcome... Good luck!
