Gas engineer training

Hey guys,
I’ve been looking into re training recently and something that my area is crying out for is gas engineers. I have found various reviews and spoke several people who have either done one of these courses and got a job off the back of it, and others that trained when they were fresh out of school.

Is it as simple as a 25week course with work placement, for £6500?
By no means so I mean “simple” as in easy but, do mean “simple” as in 25week simple.
Kind regards

Not really.
There may be a demand for gas engineers but in most cases the demand is for time served plumbers with Gas Safe qualifications. A Gas Safe ticket won't get you into the trade unless you can also do plumbing.

My friend is in the business and makes a very good living from it having his own company. It is much harder to get into now and there is a huge amount of stuff to tick off. For example you need to quote a job and get it to fully tick off that requirement - there might be more to it as it was a year ago to told me.
The other thing to bear in mind is the longevity of a career in this field with a drive to greener energy and potentially gas not being put in new builds, but that in itself opens up other opportunities.Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

I understand that it’s easier with a plumbing qualification, although no qualification, I’ve worked with plumbing for the last 8 years. This is something that I’d look at if I needed too.
has anyone done one of these courses and landed work after?0 -
I agree withe the comment about alternative energy sources making the gas qualification redundant. However, I expect that the gas boiler I just had installed will still need servicing in 20years time, so the career does have some time left. I would say it would be better to spend the money on learning to install air conditioning units. With this skill you would be valuable to any firm looking to install more air-source heat pumps in the future. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0
