Nationwide refuse mortgage application because not enough sales on the estate

Nationwide was fine with everything in our application until their independent valuer told them there hadn't been any sale for the last 4 years on the estate (we're in London Whitechapel). So they consider it's a high risk if they need to repossess. Anyone has been in a similar situation? Have you found a solution? Our broker will try with another lender but he worries we'll get the same answer. Any suggestions welcome.

How many properties are currently on sale in the estate?0

An estate in Whitechapel that hasn't seen a sale in 4 years? That is quite unusual!I'm familiar with the area, would be helpful if you felt comfortable enough to share which estate you are talking about.0
