Carried on holiday entitlement

I carried over 3 days annual leave from the previous year and I was told that these 3 days are seperate from the annual leave I accrue monthy. So if I leave a job at the end of February having arrued 5 days. Would I get 8 days paid out when I leave or just 5?

    In theory yes.
Have you got it in writing/ email that its agreed you carried forward 3 days? Did you work new years day?
Your employer may or may not ask you to take leave as part of your notice.

Assuming it's normal practice for staff to be allowed to carry holiday forward then you would be entitled to payment for those 3 days plus whatever is accrued to the end of February.  As nicechap has said, the company can insist that you use any leave entitlement during the notice period.

Technically when you leave a company your statutory holiday should be calculated exactly, not just accrued in whole months. Any contractual holiday over and above the statutory minimum could however be subject to such rules.

So New Year's Day might count as 1 of the 3 days carried forward - assuming leave year runs to 31 Dec.

Carried over leave often has to be used within a specific time - in my last place it was a month. Does your company have any similar rules?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
