Not on electoral roll - Foreigner

Hi,
someone told me that not being in the electoral roll will lead from our mortgage application being denied? How true is that, we have lived in the UK for 4 years . Will this be a factor for a rejected mortgage? Thanks

I would imagine you'll be rejected for any borrowing at all, to be honest.

It may not result in you being rejected but it will significantly reduce your chances.     Every application has positive things and negative things and the lender takes an overall view.   Not being on the electoral roll is a significant negative.   So, you would need a lot of positives to counter it (such as small income ratio or very low loan to valuation ratio and no poor credit).

Who told you that? Have you made a mortgage application yet?
