  • As an alternative to government shared ownership schemes, you can buy a share of a property with someone else, for example the friend you're living with if they can afford a deposit. Then you'd own 50/50 each for example. It generally gives more freedom than SO schemes and means you can get a deal rather than paying above the market value of a property.
