Help with Halifax mortgage with bad credit history

Hoping someone can help me get to sleep tonight. Myself and partner have recently received a dip with Halifax (via broker) we were scored a1 whatever that means and need to provide 1 months wageslips each, proof of deposit and id. This includes a default of mine from 2015 (settled) for £300 with o2. My partner has perfect credit. Our dip was for 91% ltv. Found a property. Made an offer. Accepted. Meeting this Tuesday to make the full application. All good UNTIL last Wednesday evening after reading a few forums saying some credit references don’t hold the same info I finally managed to access my Experian account after being locked out for a long time. Horror seeing not only my 2015 default but another default from 2016 for a water utility bill that was settled in 2018 (won’t bore with details but yes it was my fault but they allowed me a payment plan and didn’t realise they had defaulted me) and 1 missed payment for my very account from 12 months ago for £12 which I completely forgot about. These 2 were clearly not included in my dip application and it has made me physically sick since I found out. I have not slept for 3 nights. I am worried to death that now these will be included in my full application it’s going to get declined. I have spoke with my broker who has told me to calm down the credit check was done and we will be fine. But after reading about it only being a ‘soft check’ so Halifax would not be aware of these defaults I’m not so sure. I’m wondering if anyone has been in the sane scenario and received the mortgage? This means so much to my children as they have viewed the property and are so excited to move in. I feel a complete failure as a mother. Will my partners credit file outweigh mine? Iv also read that utility bills aren’t to worry about as they arnt credit accounts? I’m driving myself crazy. I’m 99% sure it’s going to be a no on Tuesday and we will lose the house.

How did it go? I'm I a similar situation... Waiting to hear if I am going to get declined. Ours isn't with Halifax though so I'm sure if they do so no then there will be plenty more avenues for you to go down.0

I was in the same boat as you. I used credit karma for my credit report and all was good on there, got the AIP from Halifax and was just out of the solicitor to make an offer on a property and my brother text me. We both had credit issues due to a family member taking out credit accounts in our names and not paying them back, resulting in us receiving debt collection letters. We thought we had these cleared off our accounts but apparently not. He told me to use check my file, which uses 3 credit agencies, all the defaults were showing on there. My brother and his girlfriend went to do the full application with a bank and these popped up on his and the bank would only offer a certain % of what they wanted.
I'm not sure what you should do but if you make a full application with Halifax and it gets rejected this might affect you applying with another company.0
