Got to say that it seems rather rude, entering a comp and not being able to thank the person who took the time to post it.
Hope it's back soon. It only seems fair.
Btw, I don't like this new layout... I hope we will be allowed to tinker about with it in the next few days.

You can thank it. Just that MSE thought it would be fun on the Comps board to call it Comp-liment rather than Thanks. The problem with it is that 1) It doesn't change colour when you have clicked it like the old one and 2) You can only see the names of the last 10 people who have clicked it. It is on the list.dontone said:Got to say that it seems rather rude, entering a comp and not being able to thank the person who took the time to post it.

Something must have been a bit glitchy with mine, as it's the first time I've seen the compliment icon. It was blank at the bottom of one of the comp posts I clicked on this morning. Probably still tweaking it. I still don't like the layout though. It's not doing my peepers any good.thingamaBob said:

I don't know why they changed the wording as it still says "thanks" in other sections, although it still doesn't show the use of it any differently to the "comp-liment" button0

From my understanding of this, they want to differentiate between competition thanks and normal thanks because competition thanks are pretty easy to get (ie, you can post a competition and get 1000 thanks overnight, to achieve that in the other forums would take hundreds of posts). So, if a user in the credit card forum asks for advice and sees that a user offering advice has 200k thanks over another user who has 2000 thanks, they are more likely to follow that advice of the comper because the thanks acts a bit like a recommendation from other users, which doesn't really apply to the other forums..
I didn't really word that correctly but hopefully you can understand what I mean.1 -
I understand, they have tried before to get people to stop using "thanks" in comp time.sleepyjones said:I didn't really word that correctly but hopefully you can understand what I mean.0 -
Ok so change to say entered then? It doesn't matter to me what it says I only use it as a bookmark tool to see where I am up to, especially when updating the daily thread, or keeping track in the TAB and Puzzler threads so that I don't disqualify myself0
