Agreed! I also miss the button that allowed you to sort topics by when they were started rather than when the last reply was, which was really handy for keeping track of what I'd already entered.

Folks you absolutely CAN discover which discussions and comments are NEW since your last view of a forum category (Competitions Time for example) - and even reset them once you've caught up. Note that the page will need refreshing to see any changes you make. It's also not automatic so you'll have to mark as viewed manually.
