State Pension

Yes I have checked and it is the standard amount of £168.60, plus for some reason that I cannot remember, an extra £9.20 per week.
At 6/4/16, two calculations were done - if you were never contacted out, this would be the calculation:
Old rules
(NI years/30 x Basic State pension of £119.30) + SERPS/S2P
New Rules
NI years/35 x New State Pension of £155.65.
Your "starting amount" was the higher of the two.
You are entitled to a full NSP plus a "protected payment" of £9.20 a week.
The NSP increases annually under the "triple lock" and the PP by CPI.

Thank you.
It does say the £9.20 is a "protected payment" but I didn't have a clue what it related to, so would it be SERPS/S2P or something else?Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

See link in post above. The PP arises from the SERPS/S2P that is not being accounted for in the amount up to full NSP.

Thank you for the information.
I had no idea that I was in SERPS and just couldn't understand what the protected payment related to.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:1
