Royal Mail Redirection
Hi All
I have a quick question which I'm hoping someone may be able to help with.
I applied for a loan with a bank, they have sent a letter with a code to my home address which I will then need to provide to them over the phone, this is to verify my identity. Never heard of that one before.
Without going into too much details, I'm currently living elsewhere and not the address on the application due to a domestic issue.
I setup a royal mail redirection a few months ago and it seems to be working OK, however I'm now wondering if the letter that the bank sent to my address will actually be redirected. Could it be possible that the letter will have a note to say 'Do not redirect' in which case I'd be screwed and would need to go to the address to obtain the letter in person, that's if my partner hasn't already opened it, read it and thrown it away!
Thank you

I found the list below on RM's website, however it does not mention anything about financial documents.
I just hope the bank in question does not stamp a note on the letter asking for the letter to NOT be redirected!
Cheers
.......Is there any mail you can’t redirect?
We can’t redirect:
- Mail for people who weren’t living at the old address
- Personal mail from a business address
- Items addressed ‘To the occupier’
- Mail delivered by other delivery services or couriers, including Parcelforce
- Mail from a nursing home, boarding house, hotel, student hall of residence, hospital or other multi-occupied premises
- Mail from a British Forces Post Office (BFPO) address
- Items to an address outside the UK that are larger than letter size or clearly contain goods
- Restricted goods sent in the UK using Royal Mail Tracked 24® and Royal Mail Tracked 48®
- Any mail the law prohibits us from redirecting. For example we may be required to notify the authorities of Redirection requests for mail relating to government benefits.

You should apply with your actual address, otherwise it could be considered fraud and you dont want a CAT6 cifas marker!Life's a gamble, be lucky!3

Thanks for your response, that is my actual address and my house since the last 5 years. I had to leave the property in December due to an incident. I'm temporarily living with a friend until the matter is resolved in court, however all my bank details etc are still registered at my home address, which I intend to return to once the matter is resolved in court shortly.LifesAGamble said:You should apply with your actual address, otherwise it could be considered fraud and you dont want a CAT6 cifas marker!

It would maybe help if you named the lender. That way if someone else has applied for a loan with them they can tell you if the envelope says, "do not redirect," on it.1

Sure, it is Clydesdale Bank.Lover_of_Lycra said:It would maybe help if you named the lender. That way if someone else has applied for a loan with them they can tell you if the envelope says, "do not redirect," on it.

Equifax has a great big "do not redirect" on the front, but it was still redirecting when I was at uni - so it also depends on the postie!
Agree with others re: your address though. I get this argument at least once a week - a lot of people say they put "where my credit is registered" (or similar), but that's not what the lender is asking. They are asking where you currently reside, there would then be extra boxes for your past addresses and so your credit file would be linked that way.
So, technically, the information given isn't accurate or complete - hence the suggestion of CIFAS. Whether it would actually get that far or not in practice I don't know, especially if you appear to have a valid reason for not initially answering correctly.
Also, lenders can get Royal Mail redirect info - so it could well be your lender has received that. If so, it's strange they haven't then just queried it with you directly, rather than sending a letter out!1
