At the risk of sounding totally thick I'm unsure whether or not my parents can reclaim their PPI. When they took out a creit card (with PPI) in 1984 with the Halifax they were self employed. In 1995 they sold their business and became unemployed but still continued to be charged PPI and are still paying to this day. I wrote to Halifax and got a standard reply stating that as they were self employed at the time then it was valid. Surely it should have stopped in '95? Worth persuing?

Yes I would say it is worth it. What you will need is a copy of the terms and conditions of the cover itself and who provides it. Come back to me when you have it and I will advise you how to proceed.
I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.

However, I have since seen the light.
