Best to sell High Value Items Safely

A situation has happened where a family newborn needs to stay in a special facility in London to have operations done and the family are trying to raise money to help find accommodation for the parents.
I’m having a clear out of my stuff to sell on and found some gold diamond rings I inherited from my gran.
They aren’t very expensive, I got some valued years ago and it was worth a few hundred each.
The issue I have, there is no certificate of authenticity.
We are trying to raise funds quickly and wondered if there could be any advice how to go about selling these safely.
I’ve heard of the scams on eBay where items are sent, gems are then removed and replaced with CZ and then they request a refund and sadly in the area I am living in, there had been an alert after using Gumtree the here people have been robbed.
I’m not too sure where else I can consider to sell these on. I have contacted a jewellery store who takes old jewellery but been told they only use the gold and discard the diamonds
Any advice would be appreciated

Try a bricks and mortar auction house. However the problem with that is it won't be quick as there may be a delay in waiting for an auction and then getting paid out and you will pay hefty fees.
Personally I would try a few jewellers and just take the best offer if the funds are that urgent.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Go somewhere like Brighton and sell them in person. You won't get a great price for them, but you will probably get something.
This is what my wife did with some old jewellery she no longer wanted (including an engagement ring from an ex). She just wanted *something* and wasn't interested in seeing the very best price, just a safe transaction with less risks than ebay.0 -
Thanks for the ideas.
I’ll knew I would never get what it was valued at but we have a few weeks to raise something to at least get them down there and settled while they are going through this.
Might try the market idea, makes a lot more sense if people can see it in person instead online and the transaction is final x0 -
I have successfully used WP Diamonds twice to sell diamond jewellery recently. You message pictures and description for an initial price range, then if you are interested they send you a postage paid insured envelope to post the items to them for a definitive price. You can then accept it and get paid in 24 hours or so, straight into your bank, or ask for your items to be returned.
I have to say, I was disappointed in the price of second hand jewellery, but after checking out other options i.e. auction houses, eBay, and local jewellery shops, they were the best option, and were friendly and efficient to deal with0
