Differnt banks have different limits. First off, visit any bank and get a wadge (supply) of cash bags. Then bag up your money. Check with your bank how much you can pay in (each day/ visit etc).

I only know that the Halifax had (?still has) s a 5 bag limit.

  • Nationwide only accept 5 bags per day, unless it is a childrens or charity account

It has to be bagged up properly though

i get my cash bags from the local post office they seem to give you plenty if you ask nicely

Whatever you do don't use one of those awful coinstar machines. They take 7.9 pence in the pound in commission. The words 'daylight' and 'robbery' spring to mind.

Just a thought, but when I have loads of change I ask at local shops. Most are quite happy to change a few if they have a weighing machine, becuase otherwise they have to pay for change. I have got rid of 60 bags of change in one trip this way. Best to ask around first, though, because those bags of change are flipping heavy! Also remember to stay safe, make sure that the bags of change can't be seen through the bag you are carrying them all in.
  • Our local Abbey has a 5 bag limit, this might be in all branches or just the smaller ones due to limited storage space .

  • Don't know whether you (or someone you know who would be willing to help) have a HSBC account you could use but i paid £51 in 2ps and 5ps to a HSBC account today, they apparently have no limit to how much you can take in but ask that you try to avoid busy times

i have a feeling they won't let you put 5 bags in each account, they can be pretty rigid with the rules.
