Nintendo Switch - do I need the improved battery?

My daughter has been saving hard for a Nintendo Switch. We worked out it would be £300 with the game she wants (Super Mario Odyssey). Now she has got it saved it seems to have gone up in price, presumably because of the improved battery?? We`re now looking at £324 and she`s gutted as she now doesn`t have enough. There`s some on ebay etc for less which I`m assuming don`t have the improved battery. Was the old battery rubbish? How important is it? Or are there any deals I`m missing that could get it back within the £300 budget? TIA.

The original was pretty poor for a handheld. But unless you actually plan on long gaming sessions away from any power source it's not a dealbreaker. You can get an in-car charger too, or charge from a USB-C power bank.

Switch sold out around Christmas time so stock was rare for a while and there hasn't been any low prices. Maybe look for a discount code? There has been some discount codes for reputable eBay stores recently. Otherwise it may just be a case of waiting.

Amazon have the no game included option, but with damaged box at around £250 with the Mario game , separately, about £40.

I got my son one for £230 brand new in box from cash converters and it came with £30 voucher for the eshop.

He plays on it constantly and the battery is decent, when it does go low he sticks it in the dock and plays it on his telly whilst it charges.
