I would recommend A Small Orange - https://www.asmallorange.com. They are an American site but it doesn't matter because they take PayPal which converts the currency automatically. I have the Small package and it costs around £2.50 per month.

You don't get a domain included but its always best to register a domain separately from your hosting anyway.

I like Catalyst2 for web hosting - their cheapest deal might not suit your purposes, but for other viewers of this thread, I would say take a look at their £11.99/yr Linux package. They are UK based and I have found them to be very helpful, although the control panel is very comprehensive and more than meets my needs.

Currently I'm using Amen World, which I found at the back of PC Advisor magazine. I have their Web Name + package, which includes 1Gb webspace, 1Gb mail, a .com domain, plus other stuff for 69p per month (two years payable up front) and there are other options available. So far, I have had no problems with them!

£19 per year for 250MB space, PHP, 2 MySQL db's and unmetered bandwidth. I've never had them go down...

I've been on free hosting (6 free mysql dbs, php, 250MB space, 6GB transfer) for a few days now, seems OK. Obviously can't say much about downtime over a long period although I think they offer you a good service with a "watered down" control panel with advertising (NO advertising on your site itself) to make you switch to paid services.

    http://byethost.com/

They give you a subdomain and then you can park your own domains on it, using the control panel.

I've moved my domain around over the years and my observations are that there is no difference between "free" and <=£20/year services...... obviously the more you pay the better than service as a general rule of thumb. Paid £90 with WebFusion (123reg), that was a good service.

    Avoid: webmania £10-20/year.
