O2 failing to acknowledge my DRO

Options
I have a fully discharged DRO (debt relief order). It was discharged in October 2019. Going through my credit report I have noticed that O2 still have my account open and defaulting. My contract with O2 ended in 2016. This account was definitely part of my DRO. I have contacted customer services many times and I have been passed to various departments but no department will claim ownership of the issue. I have been told various things from the many departments I have spoken to such as 'it will show up as a default for 6 years' 'we are in the process of passing your account to a debt collector' and 'it would be easier if you could make a payment on the account.' I had ten other creditors on my DRO who have all closed my account, only O2 have made this process difficult.

Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with this or any previous experience in dealing with a similar issue because this whole process is really starting to get me down. Thank you in advance :)

Yes, I do, the account should show as settled, or satisfied, with a zero balance, however the default will remain until the 6th anniversary of the default date.

If its not showing like that, keep off the phone, its seldom beneficial to you, send a written complaint, and if they have not given you a final response after 8 weeks, refer the matter to the ICO.

You need to write to them, post them a letter enclosing proof of your DRO, stating they are in breach of the ICO Guidelines for dealing with insolvencies and therefore in breach of the GDPR, and have 28 days to mark the account as partially satisfied with a default date no later than the date of your DRO.

Advise in your letter that should the issue remain outstanding after 28 days you will escalate your complaint to the ICO.
