It took a week to 'kick in' though. It might very well be the placebo effect, but the hot sweats are reduced and I'm sleeping better. Like I say, it may well be just the placebo effect, but it's working for me.
I am using Femoston which is a cyclical HRT.
One downside for some is that there are 2 prescription charges (won’t affect anyone who don’t pay for prescriptions of course)
you need medical advice as to which brand and type is most suitable for you
e.g, some women have a uterus and benefit from progesterone whereas some women don’t have a uterus (is they’ve had a hysterectomy).Happy to share info but brands, types (cyclical/continuous) and delivery (table, cream, patch) needs to be discussed with a GP.1 -
Just my experience. The night sweats were the thing....I used to sleep with a large bath towel over the mattress and at one point, pillow. Really comfortable. Helped a lot in waking less. And before I was prescribed HRT I started using Sage drops in water. You defo mustn't take the sage if you are on HRT because both promote oestrogen. The sage drops stopped the night sweats so I could function better during the day. Available in dropper bottles from whole food/veggie shops. The shop said they were less easy to know the exact dose but I'm not daft and I found them useful to adjust according to how I was feeling. More or less.Though there is a progrestrone HRT, don't know if they do it now. Uncomfortable side effects but it was a desperate situation at the time.May start trying the sage again on the other side to see it some oestrogen will get rid of a few wrinkles
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on
The only normal people you know are the ones you don’t know very well

I have just about finished the menopause Not allowed HRT because of benign lump in breast. Glad i managed without HRT as its horses wee that contains missing hormones and just defers aging process so when you stop taking it you go through it anyways and I already take levo (man-made pigs thyroid) for under active thyroid.
Honestly its tough and lasted about 7 years. Its bad for your sleep patterns and stressful so get your employer on board so you can take time out when needs be. But now its all back to normal I am glad I did not take HRT. I found nothing really helped apart from seperate bedrooms so i could turn heating off and have window open. Really it best to let everyone know so they know when you are stressed anxious not sleeping hair falling out Its only a phase.21k savings no debt0 -

HRT is mostly made synthetically now and mostly doesn’t come from horses any more.
ladies with concerns (as I would have about animal cruelty) should research the brands they are prescribed.
some ladies take hrt in their 80s.
delaying until not having to work could be hugely beneficial to many.
agree that we should see balanced discussion though.
its not a silver bullet.
some women can’t take it, there can be side effect and risks etc.

I have a family history of BC, had a benign lump removed in 1992 and have had breast cysts for over 25 years but both my breast consultant & GP were happy for me to have HRT.

I have watched Davina programme and agree a lot needs to be done on information being available, when i went through it i would have loved to make informed choice but no information was available apart from web, I would have had HRT from yams if i had known The DR that did my biopsy was very clear about me not ever taking HRT. Perhaps they were wrong as well. I really feel that if men went through it it would not be this bad. I felt as if I was the only one who had ever been through it and thought it must be something else. So glad its over now but wish i had been given the option to consider HRT when peri menapause to protect my brain from Dementia later on. As my brain needs all the help it can get21k savings no debt0
