Knitting Socks

Options
Has anyone got a really straightforward pattern for socks. Recently returning to knitting after many years and I've been gifted some beautiful sock yarn which I don't want to waste/spoil.
Thanks in advance

I pray for patience as strength might just get me in trouble !!!!
  • There's a pattern out there called Vanilla Sock Pattern that's been used a lot and is straightforward. Or have a look at Rose City Roller

I used a pattern from a blogger called Winwick Mum. I hadn't knitted for years but managed to follow the pattern fairly easily. https://www.winwickmum.co.uk/

I was about to suggest Winwick Mum - I've been knitting socks so long I don't use patterns but I've heard so many people say that Winwick Mum's pattern is a really good on to start with...

If you do get stuck, there are always knitters happy to help! *::waves hand encouragingly::*

I use the free Harris Socks pattern available on Ravelry.
It was the first one I used and found it so ‘friendly’.

I was able to use the four row pattern to help to make same length socks without having to count rows.

I now use the same pattern but use stocking stitch.

Hope that helps and good luck with what might become an addiction!😉

Hello, @carly.  There’s at least two sock patterns given in last year’s Fashion on the Ration challenge.   Apologies but I can’t find the exact post - the search function is letting me down.

    - Pip
"Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'

It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it - that’s what gets results!

2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge 66 coupons - 25.5 spent.

    4 - Thermal Socks from L!dl
4 - 1 pair "combinations" (Merino wool thermal top & leggings)
6 - Ukraine Forever Tartan Ruana wrap
    8 - 4 x 100g/450m skeins 3-ply dark green Wool Local yarn
    1.5 - sports bra
    2 - 100g/220m DK Toft yarn

If you google 'easiest socks ever' you'll find one by zoom mummy(?). No turning, no dpns. Just cast on, knit, decrease and increase and cast off. Worth a look.
