Hi everyone!
I've spent a few weeks reading through the forum and you've all really encouraged me to take back control of my finances! My situation is that I live in a rented property with OH and 2yo Son. We're in around £8k of debt (Made up of numerous catalogues, credit cards, and recently not keeping up with bills properly). We were just about managing to muddle through until around 3 Months ago when OHs mental health took a severe turn. His depression went from manageable to debilitating, he began having panic attacks and became anxious and overwhelmed by the slightest bit of pressure. He feels incredibly guilty about going on sick leave, but I feel that forcing himself to keep on working in a job he hates would do more harm than good in his current situation.
I had been planning to start a college course in January, but am now looking for a job instead. That leaves us with Universal credit and £95 a week SSP  We've contacted Stepchange and are waiting to start a plan with them, but struggling on such a reduced income so could do with all the money saving tips and tricks we can get! I would really love to be out of debt by some point next year, so hopefully writing it down here will keep me accountable for every last penny. And if anyone would like to join me and offer any support or words of wisdom that would be lovely, thank you
