Sounds like a double win - new car and the piece of mind you wanted. 👍
If it's not adding up, compound it!

Our last car was called Bluebell, because it was blue, courtesy of Small Small who was about 4, I think, at the time.

Our current car is called Sam, after Sam Carter from SG1, because the license plate ends HCL, which is the chemical formula for Hydrochloric Acid, and Sam is a scientist. (I do realise she's an astrophysicist, not a chemist, but what can I say, it stuck before I could think of other alternatives! :joy: )

My friend's car is called Ugly Gary :joy: because her old car was called Gary, and her new car is the same model but a different colour which she doesn't like as much, and the license plate spells YGLY on it!
Rule 7: If you're not changing it, you're choosing it.

Glad you're happy with your new car and you'll be out enjoying it soon hopefully. 🙂

I think the best type of car to buy can depend on your circumstances. I have an XF Sportbrake I bought brand new on PCP that's paid for through the £0.45 I claim for with every mile I do for business. I managed to get £14,767 off the list price as it was in stock. I am in my car a lot and need something with a fairly large boot space. We plan to keep the car at the end of the PCP term and run it for another year before passing to my husband to run as a dog / shopping car.

We also invested in a cordless hoover (Shark) when we moved to the current house. It's great and I'd definitely recommend. 🙂 We only use it for the upstairs now as that Christmas my Mother-in-Law bought us a second Shark but a corded one which is more powerful and better for picking the mountain of hairs our golden retriever sheds.

Can't say I'm doing a lot over the lockdown. Last week was finishing off outstanding reports, this week looks like a thorough spring clean of the house, garden and cars. Exercising the golden. Trying to get the personal finances in order also.

    Stay safe. 🙂
  • Hey all you crazy cats and kittens! Haha, yes, I watched The Tiger King on Netflix. Have any of you guys watched it. Pretty crazy and eye opening stuff and dare I say, only jokingly, only in America?

Its been a little while since I updated my diary so apologies for that, work has been so busy. I have however, just made another mortgage over payment of £126.03 which I am pleased about. I need to work out, well find out how to lol, maths isnt my strong point, what percentage I am actually paying. 25% of my mortgage is £107.44 so I know I am paying more than that. That's such an embarrassing thing to post on a public forum.  However I am very pleased to have just made the over payment, that's now 3 months in a row I have overpaid.

Aside from that, I do hope you are all safe and well what with the current situation and looking after each other.

Very strange circumstances we are currently living in.

I am in the group of people who is not allowed to venture outside of the house for the next 12 weeks or so, perhaps longer depending on how everything is going. I am slowly adapting to this, but it has been tricky as I am such an active person normally, I love to go running or out on my bike or be playing golf etc or even just a lovely walk in the fresh air. Is anyone else in the same group/situation on here that cant leave the house? Even if you arent in said group, I would love to hear what you guys are doing to pass the time.

    Stay safe.

  • Hi regularsaver,
Let me help you with the maths  ;)
25% of your mortgage is £107.44  (I'm assuming that you mean monthly payments, rather than entire mortgage)
    This means 100% of your mortgage is 4 x £107.44 = £429.76
So to calculate what percentage of your monthly payment, you are overpaying do:
    (over payment) / 429.76 x 100          [ / means divide]

    Hope that helps   :)
