This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning all,

Had a rude awakening this morning with more trouble with dd's ex she is currently on the phone to the police, we have been up since 5.

He is a stupid man as he is out on bail so he will be re-arrested at some point today, poor dd is in bits.

Will come on and write more later but I hope you have good days xx

    Morning everyone

Redruby - thanks for starting us off, sorry to hear there's still problems with DD's ex - hopefully they can re-arrest him asap - hugs to you all x

DH watching catcup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here, I'm working this morning. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.

Dinner last night was a disjointed one, DS1 had chicken and mushroom slice, chips and gravy, I had fishcakes and salad. DH had burger and chips when he came in - he had a later finish. Not sure what we'll be having for dinner tonight but will organise something.

Dark and damp here this morning.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Good morning, and thanks for starting redruby.

What an awful start to the day RR - the man must be deranged, your poor daughter. I do hope you'll all be ok.

It seems fine and dry here, hope it continues as DH and DS are putting The Shed up today!! It won't be in its final position till they removes the old shed, it's all a bit complicated. There are bathroom waste pipes to be replaced before it goes into its final position I'm sure we've moved house more easily.

Yesterday was ok, collected a parcel, and did some shopping and housework.

Redruby, thinking of you, post when you can.

    Take care folks
  • Morning folks and thanks REDRUBY. I hope your day settles down. He really must be a stupid man if he can't see this behaviour is alienating him even further from your DD's affection. You wonder what he is hoping to gain from it.

Nothing in store for today but laying in bed I promised myself I would tackle some of the more strenuous neglected jobs. Then when I get up my legs tell me differently. The specialist said they wouldn't get any worse but I just wish they would get a little bit better.

The elusive freezer messer upper has been at it again. When there is only me here I don't know how they get in such a state. Time to get them organised again and get my inventory up to date. I am still keeping my promise to live from them but, once again, I have lost track of what's out there/

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Take care all xx

    Good morning folks.

What a nightmare for you REDRUBY and your DD. I hope the police deal with him swiftly.

It's wet and mild outside though still dark. I'm off to do my Saturday shop in about half an hour. Apart from that, and DM's usual visitor the only thing planned is another trip to the tip with yet more shreddings. So far I've cleared out eight box files. There are plenty more though they seem to contain more important' papers.

One box five is full of letters my DM wrote and received to / from her mother whilst she was evacuated during the war. I need to brush up my reading German skills!

Anyway... hugs all round. Some people are still MIA and missed.

    Happy Saturday to all.

Oh Red Ruby! That is just awful. Your poor daughter. And you too. I do hope the police arrived swiftly, and that things are a bit calmer now.

Gers, the letters sound fascinating. I have never studied German but it always looks very complicated. Some very long words !

Not sure what's happening here today. We'd planned to go to DD for coffee this morning but DH had a bad night so we'll see. I'm baby sitting this evening all being well.

Looks like another nice bright day, so better get on and do something productive.

    Happy New Month, everyone

Happycas, I found German much easier to learn than French, it seems much more akin to English somehow. A lot of the long words are just mash-ups of smaller ones.

RR, I'm sorry you and DD are having to put up with this.

We had a bit of a traumatic day yesterday with some unwelcome news that has affected some of our plans. Hopefully we will be able to find a solution but Steve obviously didn't sleep well last night and he's fast asleep on the settee atm. Oh well, worse things by far happen so I am not dwelling on it, nobody died or is ill which is the main thing.

January was a very expensive month for us so we need to rein in the spending in February - we'll see how it goes.

Just a quick pop in this morning as the painting awaits ( insert rolling of eyes and big sigh here ). The last of the cutting in today, then glossing. If it doesn't get finished today it will have to wait til Monday as I'm having a day off tomorrow, so there ! :p:p.

I will pop back later when I've downed tools.
Hope everyone has a goodish day.
RedRuby Sorry about your morning, you shouldn't have to put up with that. What an idiot. The sooner they TPTB sort Toxic Terry out, the better things will be for you and your DD. Hugs xx
Take care all, see you later

  • RR sorry to hear that you have more problems with DD's ex. I hope the police can get a handle on it and sort him out. Obviously he is not going to take any notice of anyone, least of all the fact that he is out on bail!!

Spring like morning, seems mildish and the sun is shining. Have opened the bedroom windows and shut the heat off for a bit, get some fresh air in the place.

No plans for the day, just slob. OH is still on baby food, so sausage casserole and mash today.

Was hoping for an update from REDRUBY, I hope all is well.

I've been to the tip three times now and there's still two large cardboard boxes waiting to go. When I went out first thing the weather was atrocious, wild wind and harsh driving rain, later on everything calmed down and the cold sun came out.

Feeding the swans, ducks and geese was very rewarding.

DM is enjoying her visitor so I'm holed up in my bedroom. I collected a book order from Waterstones though I'm determined to hold fire and finish the book I'm already reading.

    I'm back !
I too was hoping for an update. Redruby I hope all is well with you and your DD.
Didn't finish the glossing, so Monday it is then. I ran out of steam after finishing the dining room, so now there's only a small bit of skirting and 3 door frames in the kitchen left to do .
We have had a RM from the freezer ( I was looking forward to a chinese takeaway.......... then I read on their website that it's closed for the new year :( ). Oh well I've drowned my sorrows in a relaxing bubble bath instead :rotfl:.
Tonight I shall try to finish off the lager I started last night. TBH I thought it would signal the end of the painting yesterday...... how wrong I was ! We also have a film downloaded for later. Oh apparently we are watching it now !

    See you all tomorrow.
