Overpaid for 18 months

Hi. Myself and 2 other colleagues have been doing extra work for the last 18 months and we have just discovered they have paid us wrong.

We know we will have to pay back the money, but does anyone know whether we can just pay the net overpayment as we do not trust them to adjust the tax code to recover the extra costs we have already paid.

Also, as I only work part time, I have had to pay a premium into my pension for the extra work. Can I claim this back?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Paying back the net overpayment will lead to the co not recovering all the overpayments from HMRC & pension provider. They should deduct the gross monthly overpayment from your gross monthly pay over 18 months (or whatever period you negotiate). That way the tax, NI and pension overpayments should take care of themselves.
