When I was a child my parents took me to an independent ("non chain"). Each time my prescription changed and I needed new spectacles, the world seemed to acquire a slope, either uphill or downhill, for a couple of days. Dunno what he did when making them up but that shouldn't happen.

That still happens for me; we used to go to a local independent (well, tiny chain in that they own 3 shops) and now I go to Specsavers. I find it depends on how much the prescription has changed, and as a child it tended to change more - more often *and* larger increments - than as an adult. But like I said, still happens for me even with small changes, just less of a slope/curve than it used to be.

I moved to rimless stick with basic slim titanium frames.

Photochromic varifocals £150 perfect out of the box.

Wearing glasses most of my life I can adjust my own.

Hight Street, Asda is probably one of the cheaper options.

Once you have your sizes from frames you like ordering on line gets easier.
