Doctors note

Options
Hi. I'm new here so no idea if this is the right thread but hoping someone can help with a doctors note question.
I am signed off for 2 weeks after some surgery and the last day of that note is Thursday 30th so due back in Friday 31st. I'm going to need get a new note as I'm not yet fully recovered. My question is do I call the doctor on the Thursday or the Friday? If I do need to get it on Thursday I'm guessing the 2 notes will overlap or will the doctor date it from the Friday?
Thank you :)

Presuming your doctor will need to see you before giving you more time off, what is the likelihood of getting an appointment at very short notice?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Phone your doctor and ask if they will give you further time off and you can pick up the fit note from reception. Do it tomorrow and it will be dated to continue from the old one.
  • Thank you for your replies. Last time I had the surgery (about 10 years ago) the doctor didn't need to see me. I was just asked a few questions over the phone so am hoping it's the same this time round as like you say getting an appointment at short notice is very unlikely. I'll call them tomorrow
