secondhand towbars

I have just bought a caravan, I did'nt have a towbar on my car so asked around for prices. Cost seems to be around £200. So I went to the scrappies and got one for £15 It is for a Ford Mondeo which I have, but now my neighbours say its not safe to fit a secondhand one any advice from anyone would be great.

Firstly, I'm an engineer and I WOULD NOT fit a secondhand towbar due to its unknown history - and besides, a new one should cost you less than the price of 2 tyres for the Mondeo.

Secondly, where to get a new one from? I've not had one for several years now, but I always used to get them from https://www.towsure.co.uk at VERY reasonable prices for good quality kit - complete with all instructions and templates. They also used to give free/heavily discounted wiring packs but check out the link for current offers.

Don't know where you are but I know they have outlets in Sheffield (my nearest), Southampton, and Halesowen
