I may be wrong but I'm not convinced this is genuine most comps can find on a Google search somewhere via different link but not this. If I was internet savvy enough I could check properly. Perhaps someone can verify it is legit

If it is genuine it looks to be a freebie giveaway instead of competition?
It shows up on the following sites (I don't know if these sites are any good and I can't post links so, sorry)

So I dunno but I'll leave this here for those with more knowledge to start with.

Looking into the sites certificate it does use a different chain compared to waitrose.com. The same root public certificate authority digicert is used between them. However, the owner of this subdomain https://pages.eml.waitrose.com is salesforce, which is a tool common to marketing and sales usage. The subdomain is also used for their newsletters see examples below:
