2020 Grocery Challenge Budget: £25 per week Jan Spend: £82.88/£75 Feb Spend: ?/£100
  • Hello, please can I join in for the first time. I would like to aim for £240 which will go from 30th Jan to 29th Feb. This is for 2 adults and will also include toiletries and cleaning products.

We have been budgeting this figure for quite some time now but in recent months I have noticed it creeping up with more trips to the shops in between on top of our weekly visit.

I also really need to get back into batch cooking again and buying in bulk.

  • Feb £22.59/of £100 Month (27 Dec - 26 Dec) £77.77/£1,325 cat food £8.40

Shopping off the mark for Feb. Bit grumblesome about a couple of things - i usually check receipts in shop but mind is elsewhere at the mo. and ended up with a big bag of a product which clearly wasn't priced at that on the shelf. I need to get my mind back on it as i'd usually spot that.

Anyways bought everything on my list except for bread which will be later in the week.
Additional buys taking it up to the £22.59 were £7 on a bulk buy for things we buy every week but were half price
68p on rice for microwave can anyone help with cooking rice? I'd like to think i can make most things but simply boiling rice is defeating me - despite being measured / weighed rinsed - it ends up sticky and too watery :(:( Any suggestions welcome

Month is 27th to 26th so i'm happy with this at the mo.

    Finstickle :)

I change the size / colour and boldness by using Go Advanced to reply

After typing your post, use your mouse to highlight the bit you want to stand out and then select colour and size from the options on the toolbar just above the box your typing in

Preview your post and you should see it worked.

    Hope this makes sense.

A few new recipes to make this week

    Risotto
and A different baked rice dish as well i think and some savoury snacks - will see how i go before letting you all know.

Loose meal plan so far: -
    Risotto
    Jacket potatoes
    Baked rice dish
    Pizza
    Beans on toast
