My mortgage is with Santander. I wanted to do tilly tidy ups to overpay my mortgage so I phoned them for the sort code/acc no details to set it up on my online banking.
She said every time i make an over payment I will get written confirmation. I asked if I could turn off that service as I dont require it, and i maybe overpaying 50p each day which is 30 letters a month. She said I couldn't!
That's really put me off overpaying now

Instead of sending the money to mortgage for small amount, you could transfer into another account and then send to the mortgage at the end of the month?0

I could ... but I could also accidentally spend it on shiny things:o
That might have to be Plan B:mad:You're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *0 -
We have a Santander mortgage and they've just updated the online banking system so you can now make OPs online (and for small amounts - it used to be that they only wanted the equivalent of a capital repayment). They don't send you the letter if you do it this way - it tells you that you won't get a written confirmation and so to save the details shown (on that page - there's a 'save' button which downloads to your downloads folder). OPs have come off straight away and we've not had any post
It's much better than it used to be. I wonder if the person you spoke to hadn't been told about this yet?
Hope that helps?!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
