NatWest Mortgage with some adverse credit

After scouring this forum for advise, I thought I’d share our experience of getting our mortgage and new house!
Background
My credit history - clean and a reasonable salary of £55k. Already own a property that I am about to convert to a BTL mortgage.
Husbands credit history - mortgage arrears up until July 2017 due to tenants not paying the rent on his BTL. Salary of around £30k.
We had a 10% deposit for our new place.
Broker originally applied to Kent Reliance and we were declined!!! No explanation given!! Change of broker and they applied to NatWest.
Timescales as follows:
11.12.19 AIP submitted and accepted
17.12.19 valuation completed - we didn’t even know they’d done this!
18.12.19 full mortgage offer received - no additional information needed.
22.1.20 completed
I couldn’t recommend NatWest enough! They were really quick, especially with it being the Christmas period!

Congrats!! We just completed with NatWest on the 24th jan, they were brilliant!
We applied with Santander and Halifax and both of them had our applications for around 6 weeks each and never had a response from them, NatWest offered us a mortgage offer within 24 hours of the viewing!0
