Help on mortgage after relocating?

Hi,
Me and my husband currently live in Cambridge but we're relocating to Chesterfield area and looking to buy a house there. We almost have our deposit but we're wondering what it's like to get a mortgage after changing jobs etc.
I will also only just be returning back to work after taking time off with a baby.
We'd like to see a mortgage advisor but I'm worried that I'll be charged if I don't take a mortgage from them there and then.
Does anybody know these things? It would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

If you arrange to see a Mortgage Advisor at your / your husbands bank, they wont charge you and they will be able to help with the other questions you have regarding job changes etc...0

Have you lived in Chesterfield before? Are you familiar with the areas? If not, I would suggest you rent for 6 months first to get familiar with the new area and identify which locations will/ won't work for you.

Hi OP
I have recently completed on a mortgage for a couple moving from Brighton to Wales. There are lenders who are ok with this situation but
You need to have a confirmed job offer with a start date within 3 months in your new area.
Speak to a whole of market advisor. Most wouldn't charge anything until you either apply for a mortgage or in a lot of cases until you get a confirmed mortgage offer from a lender.
If you don't know any advisors then read through the boards here and pm a broker who you feel gives good advice. The brokers on the boards cannot approach people but we can respond to pm's asking for help.I am a Mortgage Adviser

Thank you for your help. I’m actually from Chesterfield originally so I already know the area well. I’d like to avoid having to move twice if I can.
Thanks for the advice. It’s nice to know it can be done with a job offer rather than having had to have worked somewhere for a while beforehand. I’ll definitely speak to an advisor. 0
