Grey towels 🤔🙄

Options
Despite washing them on a very hot wash my white towels are looking decidedly off-white, greyish and grubby – ugh. Anyone got any good tips for getting them back to pristine white? TIA!

Sometimes giving them a good long soak in water that starts off hot and either detergent or something like soda crystals can help lift out grime, or oxygen based bleach is okay. You could use a splash of chlorine bleach instead if you're okay with that. Don't go mixing things up unless you know what you're doing though!

Do you use biological detergent? I find bio powder works much better to keep things white.

A good soak in Napisan would be my choice. Can you still get that stuff?

Then you can follow it up with the suggestions in the last post and finsh off with a good boil.

By this time they will be either as white as snow or reduced to ribbons.

  • I'd dye them navy and not worry about it :rotfl:

You can still get Napisan in the baby aisle of the supermarket . If only I had a pound for every pack of that I bought. The nappies lasted two generations of babies and there are still some used for dusting and other things.
Glo white sachets work well too.

    Napisan here I come...!
  • If you use fabric conditioner this can often turn whites into a grey area!
    Normal people worry me.

    Never use fabric conditioner!
  • Fabric conditioner is a no go. The best thing i find is to leave them drying in the sun. It's a natural bleaching element. I know I know, not very practical right now!
