Council tax & Equifax

Options
Good afternoon,
Not sure if Im writting on the correct forum but here goes....
I received a council tax letter last November stating i owed council tax from my previous address in 2014 for around £240.I decided not to dispute it and offered to pay in instalments of £30 pm.I filled out the expenditure sheet which states "don't wait until we get back to you to start paying" so I started my 1st instalment in November. In December I receive a bailiff letter asking for the same amount and more,I call them and explain to them what is happening and call the council as well.Don't hear anything until a bailiff turns to my door demanding payment.I call the council who assure me they will get back to me and inform the bailiffs.I've made three instalments to the council(Nov/Dec/Jan)
I have received a call from the bailiff again demanding the money in full.It seems the two are not in communication whatsover. What should I do???

You owe two people - the council and the bailiff. How much do the bailiffs want?
Unlike some here, I am not omniscient. If I am wrong correct me. I won't take offence.

The law is like an ocean - have a swim but don't drown.
  • Don't pay the bailiff anything. Do not contract with the bailiff. The council will take the debt back in house once they have sorted the payment plan out.

Similar happened to me a few years ago, Rossendales who were the bailiffs !!!!!!ed off after I had confirmation letters from the council accepting my payment plan.
