Can You Do Self Assessment For One Year Only

My daughter has registered and completed her self assessment fro 18/19 as she had capital gains from a popert sale. Does she now have to do a return every year, there is no other reason to do one, and she is PAYE. Does she have to opt out of self assessment or just do nothing and not bother submitting a return?

Yes she can do it for one year only.
Providing another return isn't issued for the following year.
If another one is issued ignoring it is daft and will lead to a £100 penalty.
Asking HMRC to withdraw the need to file the return (if no reason for one to be filed exists) is the sensible option.0
