Moved.back to the UK

Hi there looking for a bit of help.

We recently moved from the US to the UK. We are currently renting from a family member but it's not an ideal situation so we are looking to start renting privately or preferably purchase.

Combined we make around 50k and we currently have at least 5% to put down in addition to parents who can also put up equity etc.

My credit file.

All I have is a £1000 credit card that I obtained last month, I intend to use and pay off once the statement balance generates.

I have an issue on my credit, March 2015 default on £2200 on a CC that is due to drop off in March 2021. There is so much Information flying around ranging from ignore it until it drops off to £10 monthly payments to just pay in full.

In the US 2 years of solid credit history, 2 years of employment and dti is very important. Can someone provide some basic guidance on what I need to do to get a mortgage as quickly as possible? Is it even possible with this default item outstanding?

Many thanks.

you have limited recent credit history which maybe an issue, I suggest a broker to look at your options

Now that you are back in the country. The DCA might come knocking on the door again. GAIN (Gone Away Information Network) serves such a purpose.
  • Yeah this has happened.

Tesco has enlisted or sold it to Moorcroft.

Suppose I should ask in the CC form what the best course of action is.

Settling the debt is the most proactive course of action. Ultimately the course of action you decide to take is a reflection of you personally as a potential borrower.
