Sharpen your pencils and have lots of paper to hand lol..:rotfl: ;)

Seriously though thanks every on DFW its you who have really done it for me by posting your experiences and answering my weird questions when I was first starting out..:T

Ali,really I followed all the info in Martins book..almost obsessively!! I bought a huge great file for paperwork (I now have two, one for the 'current year'finances and one archive file)

I found out all the apr's and after fainting ,started looking round for better deals..I cancelled all our PPI's as OH has it through work already*something I had no clue about back then..*

This knocked a wedge off our largest loan which brought the payments down which could be thrown at another debt...

Next I tackled the cards, shifted around onto the lowest aprs as we couldn't get any at 0%

Next was the overdraft £650...sold as much as I could on Ebay and reined in the shopping money, got this paid off in 2 months!!

Carried on for a few months snowballing then did my *look again* and found more savings on the electric etc and also cadged nearly 6 months 1/2 price from sky and telewest :)

Final step to get us to where we are now was to look again at the apr's....most of ours were at 17% + and we could do nothing to shift them around..so finally after many months of searching for an alternative we lumped it all together as a consolidation loan (only our 5th one.....)

This for us WAS the best option believe me I dallied for months asked advice on here and took a long hard look at every alternative...basically there were none...

Soooo we took out a loan for the remainder of what we owed but as the interest was over 10% lower, it lowered what we were paying back which I did NOT want, so we shortened the time it was over and kept the payments high to pay it off quicker...
