Help ! How to deal with avarto and moorcroft!

Hi everyone,
Moorcroft and avarto have both been chasing me for something or other, I've looked them up online and seen they are debt collecting agencies, anyway I'm certain I don't owe them any money because they are addressing me in my married name (I only got married in 2019 and am yet to change my name over with most companies) the only company we have changed with is British gas, who we did owe money to but when it was realised the direct debit was not set up correctly it was quickly recitfied with British gas directly and we've pretty much (spare £80) paid off what we owe through direct debit,
Although these companies were already chasing me before this was dealt with British gas directly,
Is it possible they still think I owe the money from British gas even though it's now been paid ?
I've tried to call them but they want me to give my address which I'm releuctant because they clearly don't have it otherwise they would have been putting things in the mail, I am yet to receive anything through the post from either company.
Please help with any advice on how to get rid of them ?!
Thank you

If it’s a debt you don’t recognise, then send the provit letter for more information.

I have recently started to be contacted by Avarto and I have no idea why... I answered the phone last week to them and didn't give my address when they asked for it and so they said they were unable to tell me anything on the phone. Reading about them online makes me very wary of 'confirming' my address with them. I asked them to write to me about it, and haven't heard anything from them yet...
Its worrying my silly now. I've checked my credit report and there is nothing untoward on it.0 -

It should not “worry you silly” at all.
At the very worst it’s an old debt that’s been forgotten about, that, if proved enforceable, can be repaid at your leisure, it’s nothing to worry about.
Best case scenario, it may not even be yours, same advice applies to you too, when they write to you, send the provit letter, and stay off the phone to debt collectors.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. My uncle died in late 2018. I was his executor and have now received probate and dispersed his funds. For 5 years prior to his death he was in a nursing home and spent nothing. I know that he had no debts.
However I have started getting texts from Arvato adressed to him / me. The first time I noticed them it was an empty ansaphone message so, as i always do, I blocked the caller. I notice that the number the texts are asking me to call is the one I blocked.
I have rung the number once. They refused to tell me who they were or what they wanted unless I answered their security questions. I refused to answer anything unless they explained themselves. This ended in a circular conversation and after 3 times I said good bye and hung up. I did however tell them that my uncle was dead and I was his executor.
Having dispersed his funds, and now had a totally unexpected call from this company, do I have any liability, especially as they seem unwilling to tell me anything? What is my best way forwards?0 -
The debts, if any, died with him, no one else is liable.
If no funds left in the estate, then their **** outa luck unfortunately.
Stay off the phone to them, put it all in writing, that`s the end of it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
