Remortgage, different lender, joint to single

Hi, good day people

My partner and I have a joint mortgage, but we spilt some time ago and aren't on talking terms, another story! And as a result she isn't paying anything towards the mortgage. We were never married.

If I remortgage to a different lender, does the mortgage have to stay as a joint one? I can afford to go it alone.

Thanks

You will need to buy out your ex's share in the property, transfer the property into your sole name and take out a new mortgage in your name alone.

Your ex will need to agree to any transfer. As painfull as it maybe you need to open communication in some form.
