FTB - help you buy ISA

Hi everyone first time buyer here.
Can anyone possibly shed any light on what the 25% government bonus on the help to buy ISA is used for? We’ve been told loads of different things; these being it’s just to pay solicitors, it’s used as part of deposit and it’s used towards the purchase price.
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Used towards the purchase. Solicitor has to claim the bonus. That then brings your completion balance down (money left to pay after the deposit), so I suppose it technically is towards both as ours was all lumped together.0

It goes in the pot of funds available to complete the purchase and cover any fees.I am a mortgage broker.
