Hello, I used to be able to get soap flakes or bars of household soap from any supermarket, but not for years now. I recently saw an old closed MSE thread on this topic that mentioned Wilko, but they seem to have stopped as well now. Does anyone know who sells either flakes or bars, apart from online?

Don't appear to be stocked widely in supermarkets as they used to be .
What were dri-pak flakes are now in liquid form , which I only ever found in Waitrose , might get them in traditional type hardware stores?
Can still get the flakes on Amazon but I thought they were quite expensive .
I mainly just grate soap bars for laundry detergent or ingredient in cleaning supplies. HTH0 -

Wilko's do the liquid soap flakes (which I know isn't what the OP is asking for)

No longer made apparently. I've just found this which says that the machine that made the flakes was over 100 years old and so retired. Plus the flakes contain palm oil, so they've switched to producing a liquid product.

Thanks all. I want to avoid palm oil, so that was useful p00hsticks. I had thought of grating ordinary soap, but wasn’t sure if that is the same or similar enough to the old household soap. I will look for a palm oil free one, thanks again.0

I am always on the look out for the Fairy household type soap.
Extremely difficult to find anywhere.
The last bar I found was in a small supermarket in a non touristy type town in Spain.
None of the big supermarkets in Europe seem to sell it anymore.
At least not in tourist areas. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0 -
