An Interesting Fact!

Hi everyone, I thought some of you might find this interesting as I most certainly did!! At work, we recently ran a competition through cosmopolitan magazine and have just recieved the data back - we had over 11,000 entries!!!
Certainly puts wins into perspective for some of these high value prizes!!

Thanks for sharing. Presumably, you don't want to say which competition it was, but was it for a high value item such as an electrical item, or was it for a lower value prize such as tickets for a sewing show?

Haha I actually haven't event checked to see if it was posted in here - I Just presume it made it's way...I'm intrigued now, going to check!

It was to do with Travel - Mid to high value! I thought it might get a few thousand entries, but >11,000 shocked me!

Thanks. I guess that travel comps probably get less than average entries too, because some people might have animals they cannot leave, others might not be willing to travel from one end of the country to the other for a one or two night break. So a competition for a tv for example might get double that

I would have thought travel/holiday competitions would be on the highly entered end of the scale?
Thanks to all who post competitions.

Best wins: Dickinson's Real Deal, Glastonbury, Route Du Rock, tiny Suede gig

I never enter them and would have thought lower end (for the value), about 25% don't have a passport, the holidays can be very restrictive - not suitable for families, only suitable for families, limited travel dates, limited destinations etc.

My preference is always Cash, some way back are proper vouchers (Supermarkets/Amazon etc) then goods.

I very rarely enter travel related comps, as we have school aged children and a cat - at the most, I enter for one night breaks within about 2 hours drive from home, as I'd be prepared to leave the kids with the eldest for a night, but that's it. Most family holidays tend to specify only 2 kids and must be under 12, neither of which apply to us, and lots of none family ones say they can't be taken in school holidays. So I just don't bother.
I would imagine many people are in similar situations.

Yes, snap, I agree, I don't either for the same reasons. This one was a UK comp, but exactly, I would have though a large amount still would have not have entered due to travel/kids/pets etc - it was for 2 so family may have been out, but it wasn't restricted I don't think, so the kids could easily have been added to the package at the winners cost, I would have thought distance would restrict a load of people, I mean who wants to travel half way across the country for only 2 night... so yeah, thats why I was shocked by the sheer volume!

A week-end break for 2 at a hotel/pub with no travel expenses received over 24,000 entries (although approx 20,000 of those were from a pay to enter site).
