DWP Civil Service Interview Feedback

Hi all,

I had an interview with Department for work and pensions on 13th December. I feel like it went really well and the interviewers were impressed with my answers.

Today, I noticed that my interview feedback has been uploaded on the application centre. I scored 4,6,5,4. I thought I would have done better!

Anyway, although this feedback has been uploaded, my application hasn't changed status so I have no idea if I failed the interview?

Has anyone been in similar position ?

Thanks so much
Harry

Was it a single vacancy or a bulk recruitment with lots of posts on offer?

If it was bulk (DWP doing a lot of bulk recruitment at the moment) then it’s possible the exercise hasn’t ended yet and they still have more people to interview. Until all scores for everyone are uploaded, they won’t be able to get the computer to make the list of who got the job.

Your scores aren’t bad, they are a “pass” (usually the cutoff is a 3 - 1 score of 3 or below and you’re out) but of course it depends on how everyone else did.
  • Thanks for your response. It was a bulk one. They have 15 positions available and they told me that 45 people were being interviewed.

Civil Service Jobs process can be confusing.

Once all interviews have been done and all scores are in, they then list the candidates that have achieved pass mark. Once they have decided who to make offers to, it is a gradual process. The best candidates are contacted to see if they want to continue application process. Some drop out, applications fail etc. So they move on further down the list.

Also depending on where you are in the country, they do keep reserve lists fom previous recruitment campaigns. So they might have say 25 people who passed the interview this time around, but they still have 10 from last campaign.

Keep checking for updates and make sure you are available if the call comes. It can be quite close ( within 2 weeks) to job starting date, when they call you to see if you want the job.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
  • I've just received an email and have been out on reserve list for 6 months:(
