Hi
I used to be you.
Options - look at NVQ 5 in leadership and aim at management roles. That comes with an entirely different set of stresses but is more likely to be a 9-5.
Look on charity job for different openings that will go well with your transferable skills - advocacy, social prescribing, there are lots of things out there. They don't have to be with the client group you are working with now. I went from years of working with people with learning disabilities to now working with older people and those with mental health issues. Activity worker (although the pay is probably rubbish with that.)
It's easy to get stuck into thinking that all your experience is with LD and that's what you have to stick with but that's not the case. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
If the shift work is something that you're hating so much then I really wouldn't consider nursing! I'm a nurse and the shift work is horrendous, I worked 7 nights in 9 over Christmas and New year!
Of course there are areas of nursing that is more life friendly but these are hard to come by.0
