Refurbing these units..

Hi all, couldn't see a new shabby thread so hope OK to post here.
What do you all think of these? I'm thinking grey for both but unsure?

  • They are nice gabyjane.

I bought some furniture paint recently from BnQ which is self priming - it went on a treat and the stool I painted has stood up to some heavy wear and tear over Christmas!!

Make sure you mask the glass when painting the doors otherwise you'll end up with a horrid scraping job afterwards!

Have you thought about maybe backing the cupboards with nice wallpaper or wrapping paper? I did this with a bureau and it looks gorgeous. Quite easy to do.

Keep us posted and share pics of your finished products!!

    Good luck
  • I think they could be made nice.

If I were doing them, I wouldn't go for grey though, everyone is painting everything grey now

I think Grey has become the new Beige, which in it's turn took over from Magnolia.

I would be tempted to do something slightly different than everyone else has got and add a splash of personality / colour.

These are just my thoughts though - and good luck, it would be great to see how they turn out

  • Hello Gabyjane

They look great. I agree that everyone is choosing grey as a 'go to' colour and it drives me as crazy as the magnolia/beige phase that seemed to go on forever. The Duck Egg blue phase never bothered me at all and it's still a color I love seeing. However, it is always down to personal taste and you must go where your imagination wanders.

If it were me I would take it back to it's natural state, a lot of work I know, and if the stain hasn't run too deep...........just oil it and bring it back to life. But that is me.....and you are you........

Whatever you choose I am sure it will be fabulous because the 'bare bones' are great. Keep us posted.

Grey!"!! Why does all interior design these days have to look like that of a naval workshop storeroom. Think welcoming, warmth and character, rather than coldness, uniformity and blandness.

Sorry about the rant. All for re-purposing, but there are limits.

Thanks all. You're right, grey is so?!.. But I am hoping to sell them so I guess its a 'safe' colour. Personally I'd like to do a green or a mustard but I'm worrying I won't sell them and my lounge will be full of units!!
I did one a while back and still have it, I'll try and insert a before and after
